Decking

wood design for decks
Decks are usually flat surfaces, similar to floors, built outside - usually attached to the main building. Decking derives itself from the decks can be found in ships and as such has traditionally been built using timber and wood. However, with advances in materials and plastic and composite decking are becoming ever more popular due to their low maintenance characteristics. Decks can be used in landscaped areas and work well in gardens; they are mostly built to extend the living areas of the house, or perform the functions of a patio. Landscapers Milton Keynes is a landscaping firm, who deals with beautifying your beloved outdoor space, and decking is also one of our skills. We provide quality services using good materials and tools; if you need to attach a deck to your home or away from it,  or need to remodel your deck, we are happy to help. Attached deck

This decking design is similar to a patio. In this instance, the deck is attached to a part of the house, could be the backyard or the side. If you have a U shaped house, this deck could actually serve more than just being a deck. It could serve as a bridge between a part of the house to another. These decks create a live-in outdoor feel; when you’re on them, it feels like you’re outside, except you aren’t. It can also be accompanied with an overhead shade such as a sun canopy (which can be detachable) to shield it from rain or sun.

Detached or island deck

This deck is the direct opposite of the attached deck. This deck can be placed anywhere in the garden and can be reached through a path or walkway. One interesting and pleasant thing about this deck is the positioning. As it is completely away from the home, relaxing under a deck like this on a cloudy day or cool evening is a different experience compared to attached decks. Built with wood or timber, these decks are elevated from the ground in order to give it an enhanced view of the surroundings.

Wraparound decking

This is a very common style and is used mostly by small bungalows. As its name implies, wraparound deck wraps around the house  or only some parts of the house depending on the space available. Elevated from the ground, this deck is actually very ideal for a small home. It gives the occupants the pleasure of relaxing in an open space without actually leaving the house. If you want to have a outdoor tea it's easy to do.  time, you can; in addition, these decks could create an easy to reach playing ground for kids. They can easily come out to play on the deck without any actual danger.

Composite Decking, UPVC decking, Layered timber deck boards

For each style of decking there also comes a choice on the type of decking material you choose. Whilst the most common is still timber, which does allow itself to be stained in a variety of colours this finish does need the most ongoing maintenance. Timber decking can also become slippery when wet so if you expect to have elderly friends and family involved in your decking activities you may wan to consider layer timber deck boards in some or all areas. Very simply they typically have a this rubber or artificial grass layer fixed to the top of the decking to improve adhesion.
Composite or UPVC decking is growing at an alarming rate in the UK and internationally. Whilst the they are often interchanged in conversation their is a difference between the two. Composite decking, as its name implies, is composed of both plastic and wood whilst UPVC decking is all made with plastic. Both boards are less slippery and are not likely to have the same issues as wood namely fungus or mould grow leading to rotting. A simply jet was is all that is required to keep the boards clean, which is one of the main reason many more people are choosing composite decking - it keeps on looking like new year after year.

Decking Balustrades

Depending on how raised your decking is you may well need to consider surrounding your decking with a balustrade. A balustrade is effective a small fence enclosing your decking which can act as a helpful reminder for people and young children to not step off and fall off your decking. Balustrades are easy to match to your choice of decking as both wood and composite/UPVC options are available
